Are you the model....
What you contribute to a relationship has a direct result on what you will receive from it. If you wish to change a relationship you first need to model the change. Instead of trying to push people to change, demonstrate in your relationship the change you would like to see. Being a model for change does not mean approaching a relationship with an "I'm going to fix you attitude". When you start trying to "fix" someone around you, you are actually saying to that person they are not good enough to be in a relationship with and that they need to change before you will value them. Instead model the value, the respect, the focus, the compassion or the love you want returned in your relationships.
