The Character of Commitment....

We often associate commitment with our emotions. If they (our emotions) feel the right way then we can follow through on our commitments. Real commitment does not work that way. It is not an emotion; it is a character quality that enables us to reach our highest potential or goals. Human emotions vary; go up and down all the time….but our commitment has to be rock solid and unwavering.  Some things to consider about commitment…. it remains steady amidst adversity. It is not dependent on your gifts or abilities. It is a result of choice, not conditions. It will always last if based on values.  Think about what you are committed to today….is it something you would still be committed to if based only on your emotions or is your commitment based on who you are….your character. Is it transparent with what you believe in and stand for? Commitment doesn’t change with the season…the tide or the current trend.
