Sitting In The Hot Seat....

As I leader I acknowledge the value of letting someone else sit in the driver's seat. Growth in an organization never happens if you are the only one who knows how to drive the car or man the helm. The art of true leadership requires us to reproduce ourselves in someone else and know that when we do that they may succeed us in their ability. There is no success without a successor. If I want to succeed I must be willing to speak into someone else's life and watch them succeed hoping that they have the opportunity to do it better and longer than I did. Are you always sitting in the driver's seat? Do you man the helm of the ship and never let anyone else take the wheel? The people you are leading need the opportunity to experience the thrill of being in the driver's seat too. They won't fully comprehend your passion if they don't get the rush and take the risk that only sitting in the hot seat can bring.
