One enlightening day I realized God's first concern is not whether I abide by his rules or work to deserve his grace and forgiveness. God's first priority is right relationship. It is what we were created for. I see evidence everywhere I turn of a God who is unbelievably loving.... this all powerful creator did not have to humble himself to come to Earth to be spat on, cursed, beaten and crucified. He did because He loves us unconditionally. My personal relationship with God is a model for any other relationship in my life. How do I grow in a relationship whether with a child, co-worker, family, friend or partner... by investing time together. We talk, we laugh, we do life... I know the best way to build strong relationships is to humbly create them in likeness to my relationship with God. If you are struggling trying to maintain relationships in any or all areas of your life I encourage you to look at what you are modeling them after? Is it pure, lovely, honest, noble and true? I think of the verse in Philippians and ask can it be called excellent and praiseworthy?
