Are You Present....
I rejoice in the opportunity to be a listener; to be present and mindful to the people and situations of my life. This means stopping and making eye contact, acknowledging the person who is speaking as important in that time and space. It takes practice. It is a conscious choice to stop what you are doing and make that person a priority. We are conditioned to multi task, but you really cannot multi task listening. It requires us to be present and fully attentive. How about you? How many of the conversations you have during the day will you be totally present in? Do you talk on the phone and try to work on the computer or watch TV? Are you being present to this person? How would the conversation change if you really paid attention? Can I encourage you to take inventory of your conversations today and see how present you truly are in them.
