I rejoice in the
awareness that my walk to be love is what motivates me each morning and
inspires me to serve someone else even when my mind tells me otherwise. Loving
this way calls for duty, sacrifice, responsibility, and resilience. Real
love is something deep and powerful, a committed faithfulness that is
sacrificial, loyal and trusting. It is patient and kind, gracious and
forgiving, and willing to speak the truth even when it may be costly.
(1
Corinthians 13:4-7)
Loving someone
difficult is like loving a rebel, someone who isn’t really trying to work it
out and who doesn’t have your interests first. It’s loving someone who is wrapped
up in themselves— who doesn’t see the pain and hurt it causes others. Always seeing themselves as the victim; and they are come hell or high water going to prove
their point.
Rebels need more than
tough love; they need a rugged love. A love that’s bold yet redemptive, forceful yet
forgiving, gallant yet grace-based. Think of it as love with teeth. For rebels
to change, those who love them must exercise a love that is courageous. They
need to have conviction and a clear conscience.
Possibly you have a
someone or several someone’s in your life who are a love rebel. Think about is
as a RE-BEL. It’s tough work to love a rebel they rebel most everything. It can
be draining, demoralizing and even destructive if we allow it. Can I encourage
you today to stay strong. Meditate, pray, listen to music, take a walk and rejuvenate
who you are. You will need it on the journey. God will reward you for your faithfulness. I promise. It may not seem like it in this moment. But, He see's every tear, every sacrifice and will reward you tenfold.
