Whenever I feel out of attunement and all there seems to be around me is static in the air I tune into a different frequency, the frequency that resonates with me and has God in the center standing next to whomever or whatever is challenging me or causing the static. I imagine God in that moment looking at me from behind the situation or person and smiling at me and gently whispering "choose love".
To love someone means to see them as God intended them, not as they are in this moment. This moment they may be a trainwreck, they may be selfish, they may be deliberately cruel, or they may just be distant and absorbed by their own desires. But, that's not how God wants me to see them. He wants me to see them happy, whole, healed, joyous and passionate for life because that is who He created them to be. He wants me to look past the mess of the trainwreck and the havoc that surrounds it to what their potential is.
Being a trainwreck is a choice. Nobody has to stay on the train. However, most people do because it is their way to get attention. It is the only way they know to function, and they have conditioned the one or two people who are in their life to respond repeatedly to their trainwreck of emotions.
Are you living with a trainwreck today? Can I encourage you to step off the train of emotional dependency. God did not issue you a ticket to ride. He issued you the ability to show love, be authentic and rise above the mess of the wreck, not join in the chaos and debris that surrounds it.
