I rejoice in the opportunity to come together with millions of people in one united action. It's called the National Day of Prayer. How powerful is that? A nation sending up prayers from all parts of the country, all nationalities, all races, all economic back grounds. You see God does not discriminate. It makes no difference to him what color our hands are or what our financial position is, in prayer we are all equal.
The God “who watches over us will not slumber,” promises a psalm of comfort. Even so, sometimes when we pray it feels as if God has indeed nodded off.
It is written: "Ask, seek, knock...and it will be given to you". Notice the three different senses being considered here. Asking is verbal; We are to use our mouths and petition God for our needs and desires. We are to seek with our minds—this is more than asking; it is a setting of priorities and a focusing of the heart. Lastly, knocking involves physical movement, one in which the we must take action. Although asking and seeking are of great importance, they would be incomplete without knocking.
Are you struggling? Lost? Weary? Can I encourage you to keep knocking! God hears every word and notices every action. He is working everything together for our good as long as we are willing to take action.
