I rejoice in the opportunity to meditate and refresh, renew and heal my body and spirit. Mediation goes all the way back to biblical time. More than 200 times in the Bible we are told to mediate, ponder and focus our hearts and minds.
Mediation focuses our mind, calms our spirit and provides us tuned in moments of clarity into God's will for our life. Mediation gives us hope, even in our most difficult moments. Psalms 23:1 is a great place to start if you need a little help getting focused on the good.
Get still for just a few minutes and use this daily to help you get centered:
" The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life."
My favorite parts of this verse are "I lack nothing" and "my cup overflows". So often we feel like we lack money, good health, great relationships, enough time in the day. This passage is a reminder that nothing is unattainable and God's will for us does not include lack.
