I rejoice in the awareness that I am a "gap stander". I choose to hold onto God with one hand and hold on to someone/s in need of loving kindness, encouraging and support with the other. I become the bridge, the intercessory in between them. I stand in the gap for and interject prayer, healing words and love as I empower them to navigate toward the light and their destiny.
I stand in the gap and pray protection around them. Just as we protect our children I ask for God to surround them with a hedge of protection. The goal in mind is that at some point my intercession or standing in the gap has helped them build an avenue to God and they turn to him directly and no longer need a "gap stander".
Who do you stand in the gap for today? Anyone? No one? If that rings true, can I encourage you to look around and figure out who is standing in the gap for you? It is their choice to be that bridge for you. Are you burning the bridge before you have an opportunity to cross the gap? Are you biting the hand that feeds you or encourages you so to speak? What would happen to you if that person no longer stood in the gap? How would you navigate the abyss?
If you answered yes to being a "gap stander" God hears every prayer you pray on their behalf and writes down every tear you shed and each sacrifice you make. Keep in mind the strongest hearts are gap standers. You are there for a reason. God designed you with this very purpose in mind. Keep Standing!!
