I choose to acknowledge the greatest gifts available for giving are unconditional love, compassion, mercy and acts of service. Often this time of year we run around looking for the "right" present or the "greatest" gift to give to a family member, co-worker or friend. Those tangible gifts can be exchanged; often put in a closet and forgotten or traded for something more desired.
The greatest gift to exchange is love. It can't be bought or exchanged for something else. There is no replacement. If you could have someone's love or a new car, a new phone, fine jewelry or an expensive vacation which would you rather have? The material things all fade, go out of style or often stop working. Love never stops. Its an ongoing energy that we were all created to spend our lives giving and receiving.
Think about Jesus who gave the greatest gift exchange for our sake, so we could live and breathe and love well here on this earth. As you exchange gifts this CHRISTmas season would you consider that the great gift you have to give is your love.... your heart..... mercy.... service.... compassion. We have so many material things that leave us cold and empty. Would you join me in exchanging the greatest gift of all instead?
